Purposefully Pretty Inc.

Ashley Hightower, BS

My name is Ashley Hightower and I am 22 years old. I am a recent graduate from New York Institute of Technology Old Westbury campus. It has always been a priority to remain involved in extracurricular activities and always strive for the best in everything that I was involved in. During undergrad, I was a Student- Athlete, playing on the NYIT Division II Women’s College Basketball team. Practices were extraneous and lasted up to three hours everyday, however I was still able to uphold my academic integrity; graduating college with a 3.6 GPA with a BS in Health Sciences. Additionally, I was on the Athletic Academic Honor Roll, Dean’s List and was a member of the ARISTA National Honor Society for three years. Additionally was awarded over $14,000 in scholarships and awarded MVP on my basketball team.

In addition to being a student athlete and the accolades previously stated, I also maintained a part –time job throughout my entire four years in college. Being able to do this showed me that nothing is impossible. As long as you make up in your mind that you will work hard, and not allow anything to sway your focus, you can manage and maintain everything. My pursuit did not stop there.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition. Additionally, my passion for women empowerment and my community led me to be apart of the Women’s Association at my school NYIT. As a member of this organization, my team and I encourage women to encourage and support each other and to go confidently into the direction of their dreams. Additionally, we organize and participate in many community service events and fundraisers.

In the last three years, I have also volunteered with PurposefullyPretty Inc. for a variety of their events such as the “Dream, Plan, Pursue” fundraiser and “Raising Our Queens” conference. I have also been an intern at LA Fitness, shadowing a Personal Trainer Manager. This internship has certainly inspired and encouraged me to pursue my long-term goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.

I am PurposefullyPretty because of the hard work, dedication and focus that I have applied to everything that I am involved in. My tunnel vision has not only enabled to accomplish everything that I have put my mind to, but I am confident that it will help me to accomplish everything that I ever dreamed of.
